DSN was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in Nebraska in December of 1993. Our first facility was at 2605 Everett Street. Since that time we have expanded our services to include several locations throughout the Cities of Lincoln, Omaha, and Kearney, Nebraska. Our mission is to provide a diverse range of services, which include: long-term residential, vocational, extended family, supported, mental health and case management services. DSN provides therapeutic and facilitative environments, which encourage individuals to learn and demonstrate the adaptive behaviors necessary to make consented decisions and experience the resulting outcomes of these choices. We believe that only through treatment, education, and structured experience can individuals learn to function in less-restrictive environments and overcome behavioral difficulties, which impede developmental progress. DSN is dedicated to empowering the people that we support to live full, abundant lives. It is this dedication that drives DSN to explore new methods and to set challenging new goals. By stretching ourselves, the people we support, and the community, we come to recognize and appreciate everyone's unique gifts. DSN strives to help the people we support to fully participate in community life and to expand their social circles. Our goals in this area are intended to support people in becoming accepted as valued members of their neighborhood and community.
